A picture taken in the early hours of May 8, 2016, shows a damaged vehicle following a gun attack on Egyptian policemen in Cairo's southern outskirts.The interior ministry said four assailants in a truck intercepted a van carrying the policemen in the district of Helwan, just south of Cairo, and sprayed them with automatic rifle fire. It said those killed in the shooting overnight included a lieutenant and seven lower ranking policemen who had been on patrol in plain clothing. In a statement circulated on social media, the Islamic State group said "a squad of the soldiers of the caliphate" opened fire on the police van and then made off with their weapons. أصيب أربعة شرطيين مصريين صباح اليوم الثلاثاء، في حادث إطلاق نار بالعاصمة المصرية القاهرة، نفذه مجهولان كانا يستقلان دراجة نارية.
وحسب ما أفادت به منابر اعلامية مصرية، فالمصابون الأربعة، وهم 3 أمناء شرطة ومجند، كانوا في حاجز أمني أعلى طريق المحور الواصل بين القاهرة ومدينة السادس من أكتوبر، مضيفا أن اجهزة الأمن تقوم حاليا بتمشيط المنطقة لتعقب المسلحيْن اللذين تمكنا من الفرار، والذين تحوم حوملها الشكوك في أن يكونا منظمين لجماعة ارهابية.
ويذكر أن القوات الأمنية المصرية، كتيرا ما تتعرض لهجمات من متشددين،تزايدت بشكل كبير بعد عزل الرئيس الأسبق محمد مرسي المنتمي لجماعة الإخوان قبل 3 سنوات.
